WHY STUDY AT THE HEBREW UNIVERSITY OF JERUSALEM?
Jerusalem is a city sacred to Judaism, Christianity and Islam that has captured the hearts and minds and souls of the world for over 3,000 years. Jerusalem is a melding of past and present, of ancient roots and modern innovations.
The Hebrew University is Israel's first university and a symbol of the cultural rebirth of the Jewish nation in its ancestral homeland. The Hebrew University has become a multi-disciplinary institution of higher learning and research and a scientific centre of international repute.
WHY STUDY CONFLICT RESOLUTION IN ISRAEL
Religion can be a source of conflict. Religious traditions, however, can also be a source for resolving conflict. The increasing diversity of religious followers in the United States and Australia demands that current and future lawyers and clergy, who practice conflict resolution, gain insights into the concepts and methods religious communities use to resolve conflicts.
Israel is a religiously, politically, and culturally diverse society searching for both traditional and new methods for resolving disputes that arise among individuals and communities. Studying conflict resolution in Jerusalem will give you a fresh perspective on the interaction of law and religion, and challenge your assumptions and beliefs.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
- Mandatory attendance policy of 80% of classes and field trips
- Daily course readings from course readers
- Timely submission of hand-in assignments
- Formal assessment at the conclusion of both sections of the course. This can take the form of a written exam, oral exam and/or research essays
